Event: Hebei Photographic Exhibition beginning 31 October 2015 (Regent Street Campus)

The UK Hebei Society, The China Media Centre, The University of Westminster and remise zithromax sans ordonnance the Chinese province of Hebei will be organising a photographic exhibition of the province of Hebei. The opening ceremony will be on 31st October 2015 at 2pm.

The current spirit of co-operation between China and the UK is exemplified by the many state visits between the countries, including that of President Xi during October 2015. Many opportunities are being created between our countries, and the province of Hebei wishes to further foster this co-operation.

The exhibition will be held in Fyvie Hall, University of Westminster, 309 Regent Street, London W1B 2HW. Photographs being shown are grouped into four categories:

1. History of Hebei
The Province is rich in historical significance; and here, a part of this history will be displayed

2. Colours of Hebei
Embodying the life of the Province

3. Modern Hebei
Showcasing the highly developed nature of Hebei

4. Olympic Hebei
The international sporting activities of Hebei province

The province has much to offer to the visitor and those who would work with and within Hebei, whether that be inwards, outwards or in partnership. It should be remembered that China will be hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics, with many events in Hebei and Britain is seeking to be involved in organising the staging of the event. There are already strong links in education between Hebei and Britain, and the project for a large new international education complex within the province will produce an international centre of excellence; overseas partners are actively sought for participation.

With so many exciting developments in progress and yet to come, we would be delighted by your presence at this event. The exhibition itself will run until 6th November 2015.

Co-Production Opportunities in China Workshop Held at Regent Street Campus

In the afternoon hours of 21 October 2015, the Opportunities in China Workshop was held at Fyvie Hall in the Regent Street campus of the University of Westminster. The event was held while Chinese President Xi Jinping was in London for a state visit.

Professor Geoffrey Petts, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Westminster, gave welcoming remarks. Ms Wang Jianjun, head of Shanghai Broadcast TV and Shanghai Media Group (SMG), gave the keynote presentation at the event in English titled If Shakespeare Met Tang Xianzu.

Co-production Opportunities in China – A workshop
sponsored by Shanghai Media Group
with participation of associates from the BBC and Royal Shakespeare Theatre

Ms Wang Jianjun, President of Shanghai Media Group will be visiting the University of Westminster to present a workhop raising issues relating to Co-production Opportunities in China. The workshop will consider:

  • How can co-production between the UK and Chinese TV and performance industries be increased and improved?
  • How are Chinese media policies changing the commercial environment?
  • What are Chinese TV channels and VOD platforms looking for from foreign producers?

This event will be an opportunity for media companies to share their views on these matters. It help shape Shanghai Media Group’s future relationship with the UK television industry and provide an overview on what sorts of content UK production companies can pitch to the SMG’s family of channels.

There will also be briefings from policy experts in relevant fields, including China media, its recent policies, and market strategies.

Zhang He joined CCTV in 2012 and was posted to Britain to prepare the way for the expansion of CCTV’s operation in Europe. In this seminar, he will reflect on China’s rising media influence and public diplomacy, the difference between Chinese and western media, and the new challenges posed by the information age.
Zhang He studied at the China Foreign Affairs University, which is affiliated to China’s Foreign Ministry. After graduation, he worked for the English Service at China Radio International, covering stories across China such as the Sichuan earthquakes, the Shanghai Expo and order sildenafil usa the Guangzhou Asian Games. He spent a month travelling across Pakistan from Karachi to the Karakoram Highway and filed a series of reports on China’s influence overseas. Since arriving in London, Zhang He has travelled to fifteen European countries and covered major international stories in Chinese and English for CCTV.

East Asian men are becoming increasingly visible in mediated forms around the world, in films, and broadcast, print, online and social media. East Asian countries’ growing participation in translocal and global circulations of people, images, ideas, goods and finance have resulted in East Asian masculinities assuming more important roles in imaginaries of masculinities.
